DJ Fest!

"The Art and Culture of the DJ" is a two-day festival held on UNC's campus February 18 and 19 that will explore the impact of the DJ on the music and culture of our time. The festival will kick off with a dance party on the evening of February 18 in Gerrard Hall with music by current and former WXYC DJs. On February 19 there will be a series of lectures by internationally-known scholars in Hyde Hall starting at 1 p.m. The final event is a concert featuring the world premiere of Circulo, a work for turntables and Latin ensemble by Raul Yanez and DJ Radar; the concert will begin at 8 p.m. in Gerrard Hall the evening of February 19. All events are FREE and open to the public. The festival is sponsored by the Department of Music and the Institute for the Arts and Humanities.
