DJ Fest!

"The Art and Culture of the DJ" is a two-day festival held on UNC's campus February 18 and 19 that will explore the impact of the DJ on the music and culture of our time. The festival will kick off with a dance party on the evening of February 18 in Gerrard Hall with music by current and former WXYC DJs. On February 19 there will be a series of lectures by internationally-known scholars in Hyde Hall starting at 1 p.m. The final event is a concert featuring the world premiere of Circulo, a work for turntables and Latin ensemble by Raul Yanez and DJ Radar; the concert will begin at 8 p.m. in Gerrard Hall the evening of February 19. All events are FREE and open to the public. The festival is sponsored by the Department of Music and the Institute for the Arts and Humanities.

There will be an Open House @ 6pm on Tuesday, January 19th, when you'll get to check our facilities and record collection. Later that evening at we'll have an Interest Meeting @ 7pm in the Union Cabaret. Come out and bring your friends!

RECORD FAIR THIS SUNDAY!!

The first ever WXYC Record Fair will be held at the Nightlight on Rosemary St this Sunday (December 6th) from 11am-5pm. This event is free (though we will gladly take donations if you feel so inclined) - so come on out to show your support for WXYC and snatch up some great music. We've got vendors coming in from all over the state with some great records at reasonable prices. We'll also be selling supercool 'xyc gear that makes for great holiday-time gifts. Good music, good people, and the bar opens at Noon! What more could you want out of a Sunday afternoon?
